SOLTA is an extracurricular research project at York University in Toronto, Ontario. The team was formed in mid October 2014, with applications given out during a PSYU (Physics Society at York University) meeting. The interest in participating was incredible; applicants were excited about an opportunity to gain research experience. The team currently consists of 20 undergraduate students, split into five functional groups (administration, public relations, education, coding, and building), with most of us majoring in physics or astronomy.
The team’s goals are to gain research experience, connect to the community through science, and ultimately establish an ongoing, inclusive, and self-sustainable research project on cosmic rays.
